Houston Christian finishes runner-up at RidgePointe Country Club, heads to Southland Championship

JONESBORO, Ark. — The Houston Christian men's golf team wrapped up its regular season on Tuesday, finishing in second place at the Arkansas State Intercollegiate at RidgePointe Country Club. The Huskies posted a final round of 17-over par to finish the 54-hole tournament at 14-over, securing the runner-up spot in the 11-team field.

Host Arkansas State claimed the tournament title at 28-under par, with Southeastern Louisiana finishing third at 16-over. Houston Christian's second-place finish was a strong close to the regular season, sitting well ahead of the rest of the field.
Roy Barrera IV was the standout performer for the Huskies in the final round, carding a 1-over 73 on Tuesday to finish the tournament at 7-over par, good for 28th place in the individual standings. The senior from Boerne, Texas, was consistent throughout all three rounds and served as the low man for the team in the final round.

Brendon Willey and Mason Napier both finished tied for 11th place individually, making them the top Huskies on the leaderboard. Willey, a senior from Richardson, Texas, shot a final-round 75 to finish the tournament at even par across his three rounds. Napier, who led the team through the first two rounds at 6-under, posted a final-round 75 to finish at 9-over for the tournament. Despite a tough final day, both seniors put together impressive 54-hole performances that reflected their experience and leadership for the team.

Brooks Pawlak finished 25th in the individual standings, carding a final-round 78 to close the tournament at 12-over par. The junior from Kingwood, Texas, showed flashes of his best golf throughout the week and will look to build on his performance heading into the postseason.

Cooper Camp wrapped up his tournament in 44th place, shooting a 7-over 79 in the final round to finish at 17-over for the event. The junior from Celina, Texas, battled throughout the week and will have plenty to draw from as the Huskies prepare for conference play.

Tyler Joines competed as an individual and finished 37th, carding a 4-over 76 in the final round to close at 11-over par for the tournament. The freshman from Baytown, Texas, continued to gain valuable experience at the collegiate level in his first regular season.

With the regular season now in the books, the Huskies turn their attention to the postseason, heading to Kerrville, Texas, for the Southland Conference Championship, set for April 20-22.
