Houston Christian University hosts Nicholls State University in the penultimate home series of the season when the two teams face off this weekend at Husky Field. The two schools are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 4 pm with the series finale on the docket for Saturday at noon.

The Huskies will be playing their second series since Head Coach Mary-Ellen Hall announced her retirement from coaching last Tuesday afternoon, signaling the end of her 35-year tenure at the helm of her alma mater. With the program since its inception in 1989, Hall took the reins in 1992 after three years as an assistant and has amassed 927 wins to date, which is 29th amongst active coaches across all NCAA ranks. She will step out of the dugout at season's end, but will continue on at HCU in her current role of Senior Woman Administrator, which she has served as since 2009.

HCU begins a brutal stretch of the schedule, as the Huskies take to the road for six games in five days beginning in Lake Charles, Louisiana. HCU will take on McNeese State University for three games, before trekking up to Commerce for a three-game set at East Texas A&M University on the weekend.

It is the second straight season for the Huskies to take to the road for the SLC's lone mid-week conference series. HCU dropped two of three to Nicholls on Friday and Saturday, winning the middle game of the series 4-2 to snap a nine-game losing streak. Houston Christian currently sits at 6-32 overall and 3-15 in the Southland, one game out of the eighth and final postseason spot.

Maddy Bailey raised her batting average nearly 100 points after returning to the lineup after missing the six-game week of the UTSA game and the Bearkat Invitational in February. She posted her fourth career three-hit game vs. UTEP (2/27) and then went 5-10 with three RBI in the three-game set against Northwestern State. She leads the team in batting average (.284), multi-hit games (7)hits, triples, and runs and is tied for the team-lead in doubles.

Chloe Foster hit her first career homer in game two against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and she leads the team with 14 RBI. Jade Moreno has set new career-bests with her team-high four homers and eight RBI.

Madison Dominguez had a 12-game hitting streak and 13-game stretch of safely reaching the bags earlier in the season, snapped at SLU. She is third on the team in hits with 22 and has a team-high14 free passes as well as a team-best 10 stolen bases.

Addy Prasifka has 25 strikeouts over her last 27 innings of work. She has tied her personal best with six K's against both Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (3/21) and Stephen F. Austin (3/28). She earned her first win of the season with three innings of relief in game two against Nicholls.

McNeese is led by James Landreneau, now in his 10th season as the head coach and 14th overall with the program. He has the Cowgirls at 26-17 on the season after snapping a four-game losing streak with a three-game sweep of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last weekend.

McNeese is now 10-8 in league play, tied for fifth place with Northwestern State heading into the final nine games of conference action. The Pokes and Huskies have met 56 times over the years, but the Cowgirls have won the last 14 meetings between the two. McNeese is second in the SLC in homers (40) and third in stolen bases.

Headlining the Cowgirls is Maddie Taylor, a sophomore putting up numbers in the batter's box and the circle. The 2025 Southland Pitcher of the Year is currently 8-4 on the season with a 4.50 ERA in 20 appearances. She is also batting .308 and paces the Pokes offense with nine homers and 38 RBI.
