BSB: HCU Hosts Roadrunners for Midweek Tilt at Husky Field

The Huskies are fresh off a series win at Tarleton State

HOUSTON – HCU baseball is set to host its first home game in more than two weeks on Tuesday when the Huskies host the UTSA Roadrunners at Husky Field at 6:30 p.m. for a St. Patrick's Day midweek matchup.

The Huskies (10-9) head into Tuesday's game having won 10 of their last 14 games after starting the season 0-5. The Roadrunners (15-5), meanwhile, have dropped four their last six games after a blistering 13-1 start to the year.

This past weekend, HCU went on the road and took two wins off Tarleton State to win the program's fourth consecutive weekend series. The Huskies utilized big innings en route to their two wins, putting up a five-run fourth in the Friday night win and then opening Sunday's game with a seven-run first. Jack Walker batted .444 for the weekend with a .615 on-base percentage, driving in six runs while scoring three and hitting a grand slam. Rhett Hendricks, meanwhile, currently owns a five-game hitting streak.

UTSA dropped two games at home this past weekend in a three-game series against UT Arlington with the Roadrunner pitching staff issuing 24 walks across 27 innings. Despite the pitching issues on the weekend, the Roadrunners boast one of the top offenses in the nation. UTSA is averaging 9.9 runs per game and owns a .332 team batting average. Junior Lane Haworth leads the Roadrunners with a .455 batting average and is one of four players with an OBP above .500.

The Huskies will remain at home for a Southland Conference series against UT Rio Grande Valley this Friday through Sunday, Mar. 20-22.
