HOUSTON – Track & field made a return to UH at the Yeoman Fieldhouse and continued to make strides on the 2026 indoor season.
To start the day, teammates
Chimaoge Nwokedi and Juluis Malone earned a pair of third-place finishes in the men's and women's high jump. Nwokedi jumped a height of 1.70m/5-7.00 while Malone cleared 2.00m/6-6.75.
Coming off of a very strong meet in Arkansas, junior
Layloni Watson continued her success on her way to second overall in the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.33m/40-5.50.
On the track, senior
Raphael Aureau raced to second place in the men's mile run with a time of 4:07.27 The duo of
Ashton Munoz-Nieves and
SJ Marais made strides in the sprints and hurdles. Munoz-Nieves qualified for the finals in the men's 60m hurdles with a time of 7.86, then followed up with another 7.86 in the finals, a new PR, third-place finish, and just .01 seconds from earning a new school record. Marais also qualified for the finals in the men's 60mh with an 8.06 qualifying time and an 8.05 in the finals while simultaneously running a 6.91 in the 60m, also just .01 shy of a new school record.
Freshman
Olivia Ruiz qualified for the finals in the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.89 and earned a new PR in the finals, running a 8.71.
The Huskies will travel to Birmingham, Alabama for the Southland Conference Indoor Championships on February 25 and 26.
