BATON ROUGE, La. – On Sunday afternoon, the HCU women's soccer team snapped a three-game losing skid with a 2-0 road victory over Southern at A.W. Mumford Stadium.
The Huskies (3-4) asserted control early with
Jasmine Diaz,
Olivia Rossman and
Isabella Dillow all putting shots on goal within the first 12 minutes. Rossman then struck paydirt with her first goal of the season during the 24
th minute with an assist from
Haydan Erck.
HCU continued peppering shots toward the Southern (1-5) goal with 12 of the team's 20 attempts on target. The last of those attempts was a penalty kick taken by Dillow after she was on the receiving end of a foul in the box. The junior converted from the spot, beating the keeper to her left. Southern's two shots both came in the second half with the lone attempt on target in the 74
th minute.
Rossman now has five points on the season thanks to one goal and a team-high three assists while Dillow now leads the Huskies with three goals. Erck's assist was her first of the year. In goal, Rybuck made the one save with the HCU defense limiting the Jaguars to just two shots en route to the second clean sheet of 2025.
HCU will next take on Prairie View A&M on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7:00 p.m. at Sorrels Field before heading back across state line to take on Louisiana Tech in Ruston, La. on Sunday, Sept. 14.
