WSOC: Huskies Back Home to Tangle with Panthers

HCU is coming off a 2-0 road win over Southern



HOUSTON – The final weekend of the non-conference portion of the schedule kicks off this Thursday for HCU women's soccer with a 7:00 p.m. game against the Prairie View A&M Panthers at Sorrels Field.
 
The Huskies (3-4) went on the road last Sunday and put together a 2-0 shutout victory over Southern, holding the hosts to just two total shot attempts in the process. HCU's goals in the victory came from Olivia Rossman and Isabella Dillow. Rossman, a junior, now has 11 goals in her career while Dillow now has three as a Husky but 15 for her career.
 
Terra Rybuck earned the shutout in goal for the Huskies against the Jaguars, her second clean sheet of the season. The junior keeper now has a 2-2 record in goal with a 0.80 goals against average and a save percentage of .813.
 
Prairie View (1-5) picked up its first win of the season last Sunday, earning a come from behind 2-1 victory at Nicholls. Niasia Goodwin scored the equalizer while the game-winner came from Ashanti Hall. Hall leads the Panthers with two goals on the season. Nenah Jackson recorded seven saves in goal to help preserve the win for the Panthers.
 
The Panthers dropped their first five matches of the season, including games against Southland Conference opponents UT Rio Grande Valley, UIW and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
 
HCU owns an 8-1 all-time record against Prairie View, winning the last five meetings. The two teams met in Prairie View, Texas last year with the Huskies emerging as 3-1 victors. Karianne Desjardins scored twice for HCU with Rossman adding the third.
 
HCU closes out non-conference play this coming Sunday, Sept. 14, at 1:00 p.m. in Ruston, La. against Louisiana Tech.
