HOUSTON – The opening day of the 2025 Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships saw four HCU runners advance their respective finals while runners picking up team points in the men's and women's 10,000 meter races on Thursday at Ley Track.
Eline Mast ran to an easy win in her heat in the 1500-meter prelims, running the fastest time of the day with a mark of 4:26.40. In the men's 1500m,
Edouard Lecrivain advanced to the finals with a heat-winning time of 4:00.73 while
Albin Wallenius also qualified for the finals with a time of 4:00.78.
In the men's 400-meter hurdles prelims,
Denzel Hinds qualified for the finals after winning his heat with a time of 52.14.
Arlette Concepcion picked up four points for the Huskies with a fifth-place finish in the women's 10,000-meter finals, crossing the finish line in 37:17.19. In the men's 10,000m, meanwhile,
Justice Artisst placed sixth with a time of 31:22.61 for three points.
Day two of the SLC Championships begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16.
