BSB: Huskies Head to Huntsville for Final Regular Season Matchup

HCU looks to rebound against Sam Houston ahead of the Southland Conference Tournament

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – HCU baseball closes out its regular season on Tuesday, May 13, with a 6:00 p.m. matchup against former Southland Conference rival Sam Houston at Don Sanders Stadium.

HCU (26-23) enters the matchup looking to bounce back from a tough road series at Lamar. The Huskies were swept in three games, falling 10-0, 11-9, and 17-5 across the May 8–10 series.

Offensively, HCU has been led by Rhett Hendricks, who paces the team with a .331 batting average and a .523 slugging percentage. Kenneth Dutka leads in multiple categories, including hits (61), runs scored (38), and stolen bases (10), while Parker Edwards brings the power with a team-best nine home runs and 44 RBIs. On the mound, Joshua Caravalho leads the pitching staff with eight wins and 73.1 innings pitched. Edwards also contributes on the hill, posting a team-low 4.40 ERA and a team-high 64 strikeouts.

Sam Houston (12-39), coming off a sweep at the hands of Middle Tennessee, has struggled in Conference USA play but remains dangerous at the plate. Hunter Autrey leads the Bearkats with a .314 average, 59 hits, and 41 RBIs. Brady Christensen supplies power with a team-high nine homers and a .569 slugging percentage. The team also features speed threats Parker Blackman and Jace Martinez, each with 19 stolen bases. On the mound, Ryan Peterson leads with 72 strikeouts over 69.1 innings.

Following the regular season finale, the Huskies will shift focus to the Southland Conference Tournament, opening play Thursday, May 15, at 1 p.m. against Lamar in Edinburg, Texas.
