BSB: Huskies Host Tarleton State in Midweek Matchup

HCU returns to action Wednesday night with two Southland Conference series left

HOUSTON – HCU will welcome Tarleton State to Husky Field on Wednesday, April 30, for a non-conference matchup set to begin at 6:30 p.m. This will mark just the second meeting all-time between the two programs.

The Huskies (23-19) are coming off a home Southland Conference series against Southeastern that saw HCU go 1-2. After falling 0-1 in a Friday night pitcher's duel, HCU bounced back with a 5-4 win on Saturday before dropping Sunday's finale, 10-2.

Senior Kenneth Dutka leads the team in hits (57), runs scored (35), and at-bats (180), while also leading in stolen bases with 10. Parker Edwards provides power both offensively and on the mound, pacing the team in home runs (8), RBIs (40), and total bases (80), and holding opposing hitters to a .235 average with 55 strikeouts. Rhett Hendricks and Jack Walker are tied for the team's highest batting average at .327, while Hendricks also leads in slugging percentage (.542). On the mound, Joshua Caravalho leads with eight wins and 65.0 innings pitched.

Tarleton (20-25) enters Wednesday's game riding the momentum of a WAC series sweep over Utah Tech this past weekend. The Texans won all three games in Stephenville, including a 14-5 win on Saturday and a 14-4 victory on Sunday. Rayner Heinrich leads Tarleton with a .361 batting average, while Tyson Drake supplies power with a team-high 11 home runs, 48 runs, and 41 RBIs. Slade McCloud has collected a team-best 60 hits and 13 stolen bases. On the mound, Brian Panneton has posted a 3.37 ERA and a 5-2 record across 58.2 innings.

Following Wednesday's contest, HCU will wrap up its home schedule with a three-game Southland Conference series against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at Husky Field. The series begins Friday, May 2, at 6:30 p.m., with Senior Day festivities taking place on Saturday, May 3, before the 2 p.m. first pitch. The series finale is set for Sunday, May 4, at 2 p.m.
