FRISCO, Texas – Freshman
Ploy Makmanee has been named Southland Conference Freshman of the Year and earned first team all-conference recognition while teammate and fellow freshman
Alyssa Stewart was named second team all-conference on Thursday morning.
Makmanee had a banner freshman year for the Huskies with a scoring average of 74.93 while rising to a national ranking of 642, the best in the conference. At the 2025 SLC Championship, she posted a final round two-under-par 70 to move into a tie for second place. Makmanee also recorded a top-five finish at the Nashville Invitational, placing fourth, and finished 14
th at the Texas A&M Mo' Morial. She becomes HCU's first-ever Southland Conference Freshman of the Year honoree.
Stewart also enjoyed a strong first year of collegiate golf, posting a scoring average of 76.88 over the course of the year. She had top finishes of 11
th at the Texas State Invitational and placed 13
th at the Riverbend Invitational. At the SLC Championships, Stewart placed 22
nd overall and finished her final round at the tournament with six birdies.
