MGOLF: Huskies Head to Southland Conference Championship

HCU men's golf prepares for three-day tournament at Comanche Trace

HOUSTON, Texas – HCU men's golf is set to compete at the Southland Conference Championship, held April 21-23 (Monday-Wednesday) at Comanche Trace in Kerrville, Texas. The private 27-hole course features yardages ranging from 3,128 to 3,541 yards and will host 11 teams in this year's field.

Joining the Huskies are Stephen F. Austin, Francis Marion, Southeastern Louisiana, New Orleans, Incarnate Word, Nicholls, Texas A&M-Commerce, UTRGV, Augusta, and Lamar

HCU's lineup for the tournament includes Brendon Willey, Clayton Smith, Brooks Pawlak, Roy Barrera IV, and Mason Napier.

Last season, the Huskies tied their best finish at the Southland Conference Championship since joining the league in 2014, placing fourth overall. They posted rounds of 290-291-302 to finish 19-over par for the week. HCU led the field in birdie production, tallying 44 birdies across the 54-hole event. The team also ranked second in par-3 scoring (3.12 average, +7) and third in par-5 scoring (4.88 average, -7).

HCU will be paired with Southeastern Louisiana and Incarnate Word for Monday's opening round, with tee times beginning at 12:30 p.m. Mason Napier will go off first, followed by Roy Barrera IV at 12:39, Brooks Pawlak at 12:48, Clayton Smith at 12:57, and Brendon Willey at 1:06 p.m.
