BSB: Huskies Set for Midweek Rematch at Baylor

HCU heads back to Waco after a narrow loss in the previous meeting

WACO, Texas – HCU Baseball travels to Waco for a midweek non-conference matchup against Baylor on Tuesday, April 22, at 6:30 p.m. at Baylor Ballpark. The two programs last met on April 1 in Waco, where the Huskies dropped a 3-2 heartbreaker after a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth.

The Huskies (22-16) are looking to bounce back after a tough Southland Conference weekend series at New Orleans, where they dropped all three games by final scores of 10-5, 9-7, and 6-5.

When the two teams met at the beginning of April, the Huskies fell behind 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth. The score remained that way until the eighth inning when Katcher Halligan came up with a clutch infield RBI single to score Jack Walker and even things up. The Bears (25-14) came right back in the bottom of the eighth to score on a two-out single of their own and regain their one-run lead. Matthew Leiterman led off the ninth with a single for HCU with Luke Campbell coming on to pinch run. With two down, Kenneth Dutka doubled to left with Campbell racing around the bases and beating the throw home to knot things up at 2-2. The Bears ended the game in the bottom of the ninth when Travis Sanders led off the inning with a solo home run to right center to walk it off.

The Bears are coming off a Big 12 series win over Utah at home, rebounding from a 13-1 loss in the opener with back-to-back victories, 4-3 and 9-0.

Following Tuesday's game, the Huskies return home to host Southeastern in a three-game Southland series at Husky Field from April 25–27.
