MGOLF: Huskies Set to Host Colin Montgomerie Invitational

HCU prepares for its home tournament at Sweetwater Country Club

HOUSTON, Texas – The HCU men's golf team is set to host the Colin Montgomerie Invitational on March 3-4 at Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas. The tournament will be played on a 7,051-yard, par-72 course.

All members of the Husky men's golf program will compete in the event, split into two teams:

Team A:

Brendon Willey
Roy Barrera
Mason Napier
Clayton Smith
Haven McEntire
Individuals (Team B):
6) Brooks Pawlak
7) Shaheen Momin
8) Benjamin Dabos
9) Binh Pham

Seniors Haven McEntire and Shaheen Momin will take to the course for their final home tournament as Huskies.

Last fall, the Huskies hosted the HCU Husky Intercollegiate at Riverbend Country Club on October 28-29, finishing second with a three-round total of 873 (+9)—just seven strokes behind DePaul. The Huskies secured the runner-up position with a final round of 291 (+3), edging out Middle Tennessee State by seven strokes.

The A Team had strong performances, led by Roy Barrera, who shot 71 (-1) in the final round, finishing T-6 at even-par 216, marking his best finish of the season. Brooks Pawlak followed with a 73 (+1), placing T-10 at 219 (+3). Brendon Willey shot 74 (+2) to finish T-13 at 221 (+5), while Mason Napier closed with a 75 (+3) to finish T-20 at 224 (+8).

The B Team finished 12th with a total of 934 (+70). Shaheen Momin led the squad, finishing T-41 at 228 (+12) after shooting 75 (+3) in the final round. Clayton Smith and Binh Pham tied for 54th at 233 (+17), while Haven McEntire finished 63rd at 240 (+24).

The Huskies will begin play with a 36-hole opening day on Monday, March 3, at 8 a.m.
