MGOLF: Huskies sit fourth through two rounds at SLC Championship

Napier leads HCU at -1 heading into Wednesday's final round at Comanche Trace

KERRVILLE, Texas — After Monday's weather suspension pushed play into Tuesday, the Houston Christian men's golf team completed both Round 1 and Round 2 on Tuesday at The Club at Comanche Trace in Kerrville, Texas. The Huskies sit in fourth place at +13 through 36 holes, with one round remaining at the 2026 Southland Conference Championship. Incarnate Word leads the field at -2, followed by UTRGV at +2 and East Texas A&M at +10.

Mason Napier is the low man for HCU through two rounds, posting a 71 in Round 1 and a 72 in Round 2 to sit at -1 overall, good for third place in the individual standings. The senior has been the steadiest player in the Huskies' lineup all week and enters Wednesday's final round with a chance to compete for an individual medal.

Junior Brooks Pawlak is right behind him at +1, sitting seventh individually after rounds of 73 and 72. Pawlak's even-par second round was one of the better efforts in the field on Tuesday and gives the Huskies two players inside the top 10 heading into the final 18 holes.

Brendon Willey posted rounds of 75-75 to sit at +6, while Clayton Smith carded a 76 and a 75 to come in at +7. Roy Barrera IV rounds out the lineup at +12 after back-to-back rounds of 78.

The Huskies tee off Wednesday morning beginning at 10:45 a.m. for the final round of the championship.
