FRISCO, Texas – HCU sophomore
Josh Gillis-Harry was named the Southland Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday for his performances over the last two weeks.
On Jan. 25, Gillis-Harry earned a pair of event wins across town at the FasTrak Collegiate Challenge. He first took top honors in the long jump, leaping 6.90m/22-7.75 on his first attempt of the day before also winning the triple jump by nearly two feet with a top mark of 15.09m/49-6.25. Gillis-Harry then set a new PR in the triple jump on Feb. 1 at the Texas Tech Stan Scott Invite with a top mark of 15.20m/49-10.50 that ranks second in the conference so far this year. He also posted a 6.80m/22-3.75 jump in the long jump in Lubbock.
This marks the second SLC Field Athlete of the Week award for Gillis-Harry as he won once during his freshman campaign during the indoor season.
Gillis-Harry and the Huskies are back in action on Friday, Feb. 14, at the Yeoman Fieldhouse for the UH Howie Ryan Invitational.
