LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The women's golf team sits in eighth place at 5-under 571 (284–287) following the second round of the Golf Iconic Classic at New Mexico State University GC. Boise State leads the team standings at -15, followed by UC Irvine at -13, Long Beach State at -11, Northern Colorado at -10, Santa Clara at -8, Sacramento State at -7, and Northern Arizona at -6. The Huskies are 10 strokes back of the leaders but remain in contention heading into Wednesday's final round.
Natcha Makmanee continued her impressive tournament performance, sitting in fourth place individually at 6-under. She turned in a steady 2-under 70, opening with a clean front nine that featured a birdie on the par-3 second. Her strong back nine included birdies on holes 14 and 16, maintaining a consistent rhythm throughout the day.
Hailey Hendershott carded a 1-under 71 to remain even overall. After birdies at 6 and 7 on the front nine, she played a composed back side at even par, showing consistent ball-striking and confident putting to stay under par for the round.
Alyssa Stewart posted a 2-over 74, highlighted by a birdie on the par-4 fifth. Despite a few late bogeys on the back nine, she kept her round steady and remains tied for 32nd at even par.
Sara Pihlajamaki turned in an even-par 72 for the day, making birdies on 10 and 13 to offset early bogeys. Her round reflected controlled shot-making and patient course management, placing her tied for 46th at +2.
Serena Churchill delivered a 1-over 73 to sit tied for 69th at +5. After starting evenly on the front with a 36, she picked up birdies at 11 and 13 before a late bogey on 18 capped her round.
The Huskies will close out play in Wednesday's final round, with tee times beginning at 9:30 a.m. at New Mexico State University GC.
