WGOLF: Huskies Head to Las Cruces for Golf Iconic Classic

Women's golf set to compete in a strong 18-team field hosted by New Mexico State

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Houston Christian women's golf is back on the road this week, taking part in the Golf Iconic Classic, hosted by New Mexico State University from Monday, Oct. 13 through Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the NMSU Golf Course in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

The 54-hole tournament will feature a competitive field of 18 programs, including UC Riverside, New Mexico State, Long Beach State, Northern Arizona, UT Arlington, Santa Clara, Northern Colorado, Texas A&M–Corpus Christi, San Diego State, UTEP, Southern Utah, Nevada, Boise State, Eastern Kentucky, Sacramento State, Jacksonville State, Incarnate Word, UC Irvine, and Houston Christian.

Teams will play 18 holes each day, beginning at 8:30 a.m. MT in a shotgun start. The NMSU Golf Course, a par-72 layout measuring 6,420 yards, provides a scenic but challenging test with views of the Organ and "A" Mountains and features a top-tier practice facility that includes a driving range, contoured putting greens, and a short-game area.

HCU's lineup for the week includes Natcha Makmanee, Serena Churchill, Sara Pihlajamaki, Hailey Hendershott, and Alyssa Stewart. The Huskies will open play Monday morning at 9:30 a.m., paired with competitors from Eastern Kentucky, Cal State Long Beach, and UT Arlington.

Following the trip to Las Cruces, the Huskies will continue their fall campaign at the Diamante Intercollegiate in Hot Springs, Arkansas, from Oct. 19–21.
