HOUSTON – The HCU women's soccer team and former Southland Conference rival played to a 0-0 draw on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Sorrels Field.
The Wildcats (2-0-4) held an advantage in shots, 15-4, and put five shots on target to the Huskies' (1-3-2) one. Freshman goalkeeper
Emmy McKeon was up to the task for HCU with the most dangerous attempt by the visiting Wildcats coming in the 31
st minute when McKeon deflected a shot from distance before blocking a shot off the rebound to the low right corner.
HCU's shot on goal came after a
Danika Etter shot in the 18
th minute was blocked and fell to
Katie Marker who put a shot on target to the top right corner that was stopped by ACU keeper Lili Ross. McKeon totaled five saves in goal for the Huskies with four of those coming in the first half. The HCU keeper has totaled 11 saves over the last two matches.
Kayt Ward led the Huskies with two shots attempted.
The Huskies are now 2-1-1 over their last four matches against the Wildcats.
HCU hits the road for a Thursday, Sept. 12, matchup in Austin, Texas against 16
th-ranked Texas at 7:00 p.m.
