MANHATTAN, Kansas – The HCU men's golf team concluded the Kansas State Wildcat Invitational in 13th place with a total score of +55. After rounds of +13 and +15 over the first two days, the Huskies faced a challenging final round, adding another +27 to their overall score. Kansas State claimed the tournament victory with a dominant -14, followed by Jacksonville State at +14.
Roy Barrera IV was the top performer for the Huskies, finishing in 22nd place with a total of +7. Barrera shot a 77 in the final round, highlighted by birdies on the par-4 7th and the par-3 17th. He consistently led the team throughout the tournament and posted HCU's best score of the day.
Benjamin Dabos placed 48th with a total score of +16. Dabos had a steady round, shooting an 80 with 10 pars. He maintained consistency, posting identical scores of 40 on both the front and back nines.
Brooks Pawlak finished in 51st place at +17. Pawlak carded a 78 on the final day, with two solid nines of 39 and 39. He recorded birdies on the par-5 10th and par-5 16th holes, contributing to his consistent performance throughout the round.
Mason Napier finished in 57th place at +19 overall. Napier shot an 80 in the final round, encountering some difficulties but managing to post a birdie on the par-5 7th and an eagle on the par-5 16th, showcasing his ability to recover from tough stretches.
Clayton Smith rounded out the Huskies' lineup, finishing in 71st place with a total of +20. Smith shot an 82 in the final round, struggling on a few holes but still managed to card nine pars for the day.
The Huskies will next travel to Des Moines, Iowa, to compete at the Zach Johnson Invitational from September 23-24.
