FRISCO, Texas – HCU senior
Ben Caton was selected Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Year and first team academic all-conference in voting by the league's head coaches, Sports Information Directors and academic/compliance staff members, announced by the conference office on Friday.
Caton becomes the first HCU men's golfer to earn the league's top academic honor following a season in which he recorded a scoring average of 73.42 and was named second team all-conference. The senior finished his year with five-straight top-20 finishes, four of which were top-10 and one top-5 showing.
He is also the first Husky to be named academic all-SLC three times, having earned second team honors in 2023 and first team in 2022. Caton earned a bachelor's in business administration with a 3.95 gpa and owns a 4.0 gpa while working toward his master of business administration with a focus on data analytics.
