MGOLF: Caton Earns 2nd Team All-Conference Honors

Senior named to the all-conference team for second time

HOUSTON, Texas – Graduate Senior, Ben Caton, earned Second-Team All-Conference honors for the second time as voted by the head coaches and announced by the league office Wednesday.

The St Andrews, Fife, Scotland native recorded a 73.42 scoring average tallying five straight top-20s including four top-10s and a top-5 this season. The seniors' best finish this year came at the 2024 Big Texas notching a tie for 5th place with a three-under par total. The two-time Southland honoree, 2nd Team All-Conference in 2022, is one of two players since HCU joined the Southland Conference in 2014 to finish inside the top-10 at the conference tournament twice in their Husky career after finishing in a tie for 10th place in 2022 and 2024 (Carlos Trevino 2017 & 2018). Caton carded a career-low six-under par, 66, earlier this season, second-best round for the Huskies this season, at the 2023 La Tour Intercollegiate and closed out his five-year Husky career firing rounds of par or better in 10 of his final 12 rounds, combined three-under par in his final 12 rounds. Caton recorded nine-straight rounds of par or better including five under-par rounds leading to his two-best finishes of his career this spring, also finished tied for 8th place at the 2024 Koasati Pines Intercollegiate.

Caton is graduating with his Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Finance. Caton is a two-time academic All-Conference honoree, 1st Team Academic All-Conference in 2022 and 2nd Team Academic All-Conference in 2023, owning a 3.96 GPA.
