HOUSTON – HCU head women's basketball coach
Donna Finnie announced the signing of Tiffany Tullis to join the Huskies for the 2024-25 season.
A 5-11 forward, Tullis played last season at Texas State where she appeared in all 32 of the Bobcats' games and started 28 times. She averaged 7.5 points and a team-high 6.6 rebounds per game last season as a junior, shooting 53.6 percent (89-of-166) from the floor. Tullis also added 46 assists, 33 steals and 14 blocked shots. She scored in double-figures 10 times and pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds against UT Rio Grande Valley.
"This week has been special for us," said Finnie. "I recruited Tiffany and Victoria from their junior colleges and truly felt great connections with both so it is with great delight we sign Tiffany to join Vic for this year. Tiffany was someone I recognized early on as a player who could really score in our league. Her versatility offensively, and ability to score from the high post off the bounce, will see her be an immediate contributor for us."
"Tiffany has a knack of finding the ball off the glass," Finnie continued. "She reminds me of Anna Strickland in that she moves her feet and pursues so well. Her ability to rebound will really help us and I see her being a terrific mentor for freshman Mariyah Brown."
Prior to Texas State, Tullis played two seasons at Blinn College. In 2022-23, she was named a first team NJCAA All-American after averaging 14.4 points and 12.6 rebounds per game with 28 double-doubles. She was named Region XIV Player of the Year and closed out her two-year career at Blinn as the program's single-season record holder in rebounds, with 441, and career rebounding leader, with 767. In 2021-22, Tullis averaged 11.5 ppg and 10.5 rpg en route to Region Newcomer of the Year honors.
Tullis spent her freshman year at Prairie View A&M, appearing in 16 games while making five starts. She averaged 6.5 ppg and 5.6 rpg for the Panthers.
"I chose HCU because it felt like an atmosphere that I can really excel in. Everything about the school from the coaches and basketball to being around the Christianity aspect made it feel like home." said Tullis.
"Tiffany brings with her four years of college experience, and I believe Tiffany has the ability to make a huge impact in the Southland," added Finnie. "Not only is she a good student, she will bring a lot of support to Sharp as her three older sisters played college basketball and we are thrilled to have the whole family be Huskies."
Tullis joins Victoria Dixon and Kierra Prim as transfers joining the program along with incoming freshmen Mariyah Brown, Kendall Beck and Madelyne Davis.
