WBB: Huskies Return to Sharp Gym for SLC Battle Against Southeastern

HCU aims to build on its conference-opening win against the Lady Lions

HOUSTON — The HCU women's basketball team returns home on Friday night for its first Southland Conference game at Sharp Gym this season, hosting Southeastern at 6:00 p.m.

The Huskies (3-4, 1-0 SLC) enter the matchup looking to pick up SLC win number two after opening the league slate with a 79-66 win at New Orleans on Nov. 26.

HCU enters Friday's game averaging 72.4 points per game, the second-best scoring offense in the conference, while generating 15.6 assists and 10.7 steals per outing. Thus far this season the Huskies have gotten an impressive 29.1 points per game from the bench, the 37th-highest per game total in the country and first in the conference.

Junior guard Tove Caesar has provded a consistent offensive presence the last three games, averaging 11 points and 4.3 assists per game while connecting on 13-of-25 (52 percent) from the floor. 

Southeastern (2-5, 1-1 SLC) arrives in Houston after falling 69–52 to Northwestern State on Sunday. The Lions average 59.9 points per game and are shooting 36.7 percent from the floor on the season, while allowing 81.4 points per game on the defensive end. In conference games, Southeastern has relied heavily on its perimeter scoring, shooting 50 percent from three while posting 64.0 points per game.

The Huskies head back out on the road to face Nicholls on Thursday, Dec. 18, in Thibodaux, La. before returning to Houston for their final non-conference matchup of the season across town as Tudor FIeldhouse against the Rice Owls on Saturday, Dec. 20.
