HOUSTON, Texas – Sophomore 
Destiny Quintanilla set a new HCU program record in the 5,000 meters to lead the Huskies' track & field team on Saturday at the Rice J. Fred Duckett Twilight meet held at Holloway Field.
 
Sophomore 
Destiny Quintanilla raced to a first-place finish and a new school record in the 5,000 meters, besting a record previously held by teammate 
Jessica Rabius by more than eight seconds with a time of 17:26.94. Rabius, meanwhile, placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:09.34 while 
Eline Mast crossed in 2:14.01, finishing ninth.
 
For the men, 
Alex Piquart earned a win in the men's 800m with a time of 1:49.52, less than four-tenths of a second off his school record time set less than two weeks ago at the Bryan Clay Invitational. 
Krzysztof Turski ran a season-best 3:51.01 in the 1500 meters to finish fourth with 
Albin Wallenius finishing in 3:55.63 to place seventh.
 
In hurdles, freshmen 
Ashton Munoz-Nieves and 
SJ Marais came in fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 110 meter hurdles with times of 14.71 and 14.92. Meanwhile, in the 400 meter hurdles 
Denzel Hinds ran a season-best 53.03 to come in fourth. 
Scott Boon recorded a top mark of 7.10m/23-3.5 in the long jump, finishing fifth.
 
Tasheba Pleasant recorded a season-best mark of 12.02m/39-5.25 in the triple jump, placing seventh in the event. In the women's discus, 
Liza Lap posted a fifth-place finish with a top throw of 44.18m/144-11. In men's throws, 
Spencer Blake set a new PR in the discus with a top mark of 46.34m/152-1, to place fifth, while his best throw of 15.15m/49-8.5 in the shot put was good for fifth.
 
HCU has one more meet, the Tom Tellez Invitational across town at the University of Houston on Friday, May 3, before the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships from May 9-11 at Rice's Holloway Field.
