HOUSTON – On Wednesday afternoon, HCU head women's basketball coach
Donna Finnie announced the signing of transfer guard Victoria Dixon to join the Huskies for the 2024-25 campaign.
A 5-5 guard from Grand Prairie, Texas, Dixon comes to HCU from Alabama A&M where she averaged 5.8 points per game in 31 games as a sophomore this past season. She also pulled down 1.7 rebounds per game while recording 44 assists and 16 steals on the season. Dixon scored in double-figures seven times, including a career-high 21 points in a win at Mississippi Valley State.
"Vic is finally coming home! I recruited Vic previously and was so thrilled when she called to talk about becoming a Husky," said Finnie. "They say good things come to those who wait and Husky fans will love watching Vic play in Sharp. She is a very dynamic scoring guard who can create for herself but also see the next pass. She is a very exciting player on both ends of the floor as her defensive tenacity is evident each time she steps on the floor and her offensive versatility makes her a difficult matchup. We are very excited that she and her family will be joining us this fall!"
Prior to Alabama A&M, Dixon played her freshman year at Tyler Junior College. She led the Apaches in scoring with 14.2 ppg while shooting 44 percent (157-of-357) from the floor. Dixon also added 3.4 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game while guiding Tyler to an 18-13 record.
"I chose HCU because it's like a home away from home and they say big things come from the city," said Dixon.
Dixon joins fellow transfer Kierra Prim, announced two weeks ago, Kendall Beck and Madelyne Davis, who signed during the early signing period in November, as new student-athletes set to join the Huskies for the 2024-25 season.
