HOUSTON – With multiple preseason all-America honors already to his name ahead of the 2023 season, junior linebacker
Rodney Dansby can add the Buck Buchanan Award, presented by FedEx Ground, preseason Watch List.
The Buck Buchanan Award is presented annually to the national defensive player of the year in Division I FCS college football. Last season, a year which he totaled 126 tackles to average 11.5 per game to lead the nation during the regular season, Dansby was one of 30 finalists for the award.
Dansby is one of 35 players on the watch list and the lone representative from the Southland Conference. Players can be added to the watch list during the season with a list of finalists released at the end of the regular season.
HCU opens the 2023 season on Saturday, Sep. 2, vs. Arkansas Baptist at 6:00 p.m. at Husky Stadium.
