NEW ORLEANS, La – The Huskies travel for a Southland Conference three-game series against New Orleans on Maestri Field at Privateer Park on Friday, May 5^th through Sunday, May 7^th.

HCU is 6-17 against the Privateers all-time, with the last win coming in game two of the 2022 series, 5-3, at Husky Field. The Huskies are looking for revenge after falling to New Orleans, 10-3, in the first round of the 2022 Southland Conference Baseball Tournament.

The Huskies (10-30, 6-9 SLC) are led by Junior infielder Reed Chumley who is coming off a terrific midweek matchup against SFA where he went 4-for-5 with two home runs, two doubles, three runs, and two RBIs. Chumley leads the Southland Conference with a .386 batting average with 31 RBIs, 31 runs, 14 doubles, and nine home runs on the season. Junior outfielder Samuel Benjamin is hitting .347 avg. with 42 RBIs, 31 runs, 12 doubles, a triple, and eight home runs. Freshman catcher Dylan LaRue is averaging .289 with 27 RBIs, 22 runs, nine doubles, a triple, and five home runs. Senior infielder Austin Roccaforte is batting .284 avg. with 27 runs, 18 RBIs, seven doubles, and a home run on the year.

Junior righthander Rye Gunter (1-3) is the probable starter for game one. Gunter has 11 appearances, seven starts, for the Huskies pitching 40 innings with a 5.63 ERA and a 1.65 WHIP. Graduate student righthander Walker Zander (2-4) is the probable pitcher for game two. Zander has 11 appearances, seven starts, for the Huskies pitching 43 innings with a 7.17 ERA and a 1.95 WHIP.

New Orleans (26-19, 7-8 SLC) are led by Tristan Moore batting .335 avg. with 46 runs, 43 RBIs, seven doubles, two triples, and 14 home runs. Tyler Bischke is hitting .318 avg. with 43 runs, 38 RBIs, 13 doubles, and seven home runs. Anthony Herron Jr. is also averaging .318 with 31 runs, 23 RBIs, 11 doubles, and five home runs.
