SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior
Jessica Rabius placed third in her 800 meter heat on Thursday at the NCAA West First Round at Hornet Stadium to advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday for a chance to reach the NCAA Championship meet in Austin in June.
Rabius, running in the first heat, placed third to qualify with a time of 2:04.77. Following the rest of the heats, Rabius' time still ranked third among the 48 runners competing in the first round. Her time was just .13 seconds off her school record time set earlier this season.

Garrett Gibson missed out on qualifying for the quarterfinals in the 110 meter hurdles by two thousandths of a second on Wednesday. The senior finished in 13.985 while Arkansas' Matthew Lewis-Banks recorded a time of 13.983 to take the 24
th spot and advance.
Rabius will run in the quarterfinals on Saturday, May 27, at 9:05 p.m. CST for a chance to advance to the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas from June 7 through 10.
