HOUSTON, Tx – HCU returns home this weekend for a three-game series against the Islanders of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Friday, April 28 through Sunday, April 30 at Husky Field.
The Huskies are 10-18 all-time against the Islanders but won the 2022 conference series at Chapman Field in Corpus Christi, 2-1, winning the final two matchups, 5-3 and 11-5. The Huskies are 4-4 at home against the Islanders since 2013, with the last win coming in 2020 winning, 11-6.
HCU (8-28, 5-7 SLC) are led by junior infielder
Reed Chumley who is batting .369 avg. with 26 RBIs, 26 runs, 12 doubles, and six home runs on the season. Junior outfielder
Samuel Benjamin is batting .359 avg. with 35 RBIs, 27 runs, 11 doubles, one triple, and six home runs. Freshman catcher
Dylan LaRue is hitting .304 avg. with 25 RBIs, 20 runs, eight doubles and five home runs on the year.
The Islanders (18-22, 6-6 SLC) are led by Brendan Ryan who is hitting .362 avg. with 29 RBIs, 38 runs, ten doubles, seven triples, and five home runs. Jose Enriquez is batting .324 avg. with 19 RBIs, 16 runs, seven doubles, and three home runs. The Islanders head to HCU following a 2-1 series win over Lamar last weekend, with an 11-inning victory over the Cardinals on Sunday.
