FRISCO, Texas – Dee Collins of HCU women's basketball was named Southland Conference Player of The Week the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Collins helped lead HCU to two big conference wins this week. She recorded her sixth double-double (24-points 12-rebounds) of the season against the Northwestern State Lady Demons on Thursday. Her second 20-point performance of the week came against the Nicholls Colonels where she finished with 20-points and eight rebounds.
This week Collins shot 53 percent from the field and 88 percent from the foul line. She added four assists and two steals. For the year Collins is knocking down shots at a 50 percent clip from the field (109-of-217), 41 percent from three-point range (21-of-51) and 81 percent from the foul line (76-of-94). Collins is on pace to become the 12
th 1,000-point scorer in program history this season. She currently has 956 points in her career.
Collins has been dominant so far through the conference schedule. She currently ranks top-5 in scoring, rebounding (offensive and defensive), shooting percentage and free-throw percentage.
Collins and the Huskies are back in action this week with matchups against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Thursday evening before heading to San Antonio to face the UIW Cardinals on Saturday afternoon.
