WBB: Huskies Announce 2025-26 Schedule

HCU begins its first year under head coach Drew Long on Nov. 4 at LSU

HOUSTON – HCU women's basketball released its full 2025-26 schedule, including 22 Southland Conference matchups in the program's first year under the leadership of head coach Drew Long, on Friday afternoon.

"We are excited about this upcoming season," said Long. "The team has been working hard this offseason and our staff has been pleased with the effort we've seen. Our non-conference schedule will be a great test for us, both physically and mentally. The experience we will gain from playing at places like LSU and South Florida will help us prepare for conference play and give us an opportunity to grow on the road. It will be a challenge but one we are looking forward to."

The Huskies open the campaign on the road against perennial national power LSU in Baton Rouge, La. on Nov. 4. They then play two more road games, first against Tarleton State in Stephenville, Texas on Nov. 9 and then at Tulsa on Nov. 13.

The first chance for Husky fans to catch the home team on the floor in Sharp Gym comes on Nov. 18 when HCU will take on LeTourneau before hosting Concordia (TX) on Nov. 24. SLC play starts early this year with a pre-Turkey Day road matchup against New Orleans on Nov. 26.

December starts with a trip to the Sunshine State to face South Florida in Tampa on Dec. 5. The Huskies then jump back into conference play with a home date against Southeastern on Dec. 12 before traveling to Thibodaux, La. to face Nicholls on Dec. 16. HCU then closes non-conference play in town with a Dec. 20 matchup against the Rice Owls at Tudor Fieldhouse. The Huskies then return from a break for Christmas to host the McNeese Cowgirls on New Year's Eve.

A jam-packed January that includes nine SLC games starts with a three-game road swing against UIW, Lamar and Stephen F. Austin. The Huskies then return home for their next four games, hosting Northwestern State, East Texas A&M, UIW and UT Rio Grande Valley on consecutive weekends. HCU then closes the month of January with a trip south to face UTRGV again before taking on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

HCU begins February with a road trip to Louisiana to face McNeese and Southeastern before returning home to host rematches against Nicholls and UNO on the second weekend of the month. The final road trip of the season takes the Huskies to Commerce, Texas to face ETAMU before continuing on to Natchitoches, La. to play Northwestern State. The regular season then closes with three home dates, including visits from Lamar and SFA before the finale against TAMUCC on Mar. 2.

The 2025-26 Southland Conference Tournament is set for Mar. 9-12 in Lake Charles, La.

The Huskies' 2025-26 squad features four returners from last season along with seven transfers and three incoming freshmen.
