Baylor Baumann (0-1) took the loss, giving up two runs, two earned, on two hits with a strikeout in one inning for HCU. Senior righthander

Montclair Cain went 3-for-4 for the Vaqueros with three RBI's, two doubles, a walk, and scored a run. RJ Ochoa went 2-for-3 with three RBI's, a run, a walk, and a stolen base. Zerek Saenz went 2-for-4 with three runs, a walk, and a stolen base for the Vaqueros (3-0).
Alex Verdugo (1-0) earned the win in relief allowing no runs on one hit, striking out three, in 2.2 innings of work. Starting pitcher Colten Davis allowed three runs, three earned, on three hits with four strikeouts, and three walks in four innings.

UTRGV scored a run in the bottom of the first when Roberto Gonzalez hit a single to right field scoring Zerek Saenz. The Vaqueros added two runs in the bottom of the third inning thanks to a single to right field by Montclair Cain scoring Zerek Saenz and Kade York. RJ Ochoa stole home to start the bottom of the fifth inning before Montclair Cain doubled to right center scoring Saenz. RJ Ochoa added an RBI single to center field in the bottom of the sixth inning scoring Damian Rodriguez. Isaac Lopez scored the first run of the seventh inning after Jacob Sanchez was hit-by-pitch. Adrian Torres was also hit-by-pitch to score Montclair Cain before RJ Ochoa singled through the right-side scoring Jacob Sanchez and Spencer Serven.
HCU will return to the field on Tuesday, February 21, in Baylor Ballpark to take on the Baylor Bears at 6:30 p.m.
