Biography

2021: Smitherman made 11 appearances, including one start…went 1-2with a 3.67 ERA, 15 strikeouts and 15 walks in 27.0 innings…threw two shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out one at Rice (3/9)…allowed one earned run on three hits with a season-high four strikeouts in 5.2 innings at Nicholls (3/27)…allowed two runs on three hits with two strikeouts to earn the win over Central Arkansas (5/15).
 
Prior to HBU: Played two seasons at Northeast Texas Community College…made three starts as a sophomore, going 0-1 with a 6.23 ERA and four strikeouts…as a freshman, made 20 appearances, including three starts…went 3-4 with a 6.50 ERA, 41 strikeouts and 21 walks in 36.0 innings…Played at Kilgore High School, where he ranked among the Top 100 overall and the 48th-ranked righthanded pitcher in Texas…earned THSBCA All-State honors.
