WBB: HCU Signs Kendall Beck for 2024-25

Beck is a 6-2 forward from San Antonio

HOUSTON – On Thursday morning, HCU head women's basketball coach Donna Finnie announced the signing of Kendall Beck to a National Letter of Intent to join the Huskies' program for the 2024-25 school year.

Hailing from San Antonio, Beck is a home-schooled student-athlete who has played for the San Marcos Panthers and coach Traci Hurta. Last season, she helped guide the Panthers to a 47-3 record and a National Homeschool Basketball Championship title. Beck has been a three-year starter for coach Hurta and maintained a 4.0 GPA.

"Kendall is a great leader and the light of Christ shines through her on, and off, the court," said Hurta. "She has a great work ethic and has been a huge asset to the Panthers. She will definitely turn heads at HCU on the court and be a valuable contributor in her freshman year."

"Kendall is someone we felt had all of the pieces we look for in a forward," Finnie added. "She is tremendous defensively and has good length and mobility where I can see her being able to guard multiple positions. What really stood out to me my first time watching her was her vocal leadership with her team. That is something I look for every time when I am out recruiting and it is very evident that Kendall is comfortable challenging her team, which is rare these days. Additionally, she stretches the floor really well and I think has the ability to play inside/out in our offense. She's very comfortable leading the offense from her defensive rebounding which reminds me a lot of former Husky Anna Strickland!"

In addition to her homeschool team, Beck has played club basketball for coach Fonzell Martin and Austin Elite.

"I have been doing this for 30 years and Kendall is one of the best leaders I have ever been around," Martin said. "She is so impactful, not only as a player and especially on the defensive end, but as a vocal leader and extension of the coach on the floor. We are excited to watch her at HCU during her collegiate career."

"I chose HCU because, unlike most schools, the atmosphere at HCU resembles a family in so many ways," said Beck. "From the beginning I felt like I connected so well with the coaches and players, as well. I am so excited to be a Husky!"

"Kendall is the perfect fit for HCU and I see her seamlessly fitting in on campus," added Finnie. "Her family is so supportive of Kendall and this program and we are so excited to have all of them around the next four years in Sharp."
