AUGUSTA, Ga. – HBU senior punter
Brady Buell has been selected to the preseason watch list for the 2022 FCS Punter of the Year Award, the Augusta Sports Council announced Monday.
Buell was a semifinalist for the 2021 FCS Punter of the Year Award, after earning All-Southland Conference First-Team honors. The Traverse City, Michigan, native averaged 42.0 yards on 71 punts, the second-most in the FCS. He set the school record by averaging 50.9 yards on nine punts in the opener at New Mexico. He also averaged 47.8 yards on 10 attempts at Nicholls. Buell had his longest punt of the season with a 79-yarder against Northern Colorado. He led the conference in punts inside the 20 with 24 and punts of 50 or more yards with 17, while earning SLC Special Teams Player of the Week twice.
Twenty-two punters made the list, which is based on the 2021 watch list, all-conference and all-America teams, as well as the 2022 preseason all-conference teams. Buell was an automatic selection as the first-team honoree on the Southland Preseason All-Conference Teams.
The Huskies open preseason camp Wednesday, Aug. 3, with a 7 p.m. practice at Husky Stadium.
