HOUSTON – HCU returns home to Husky Stadium for a Family Weekend game against Southland Conference rival Northwestern State this Saturday at 6:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Nicholas Pietrzycki providing play-by-play alongside Jackson Cochran while Luke Mauro handles the radio call on Patriot Talk 920 AM.

The Huskies (1-4, 0-1 SLC) are looking to snap a four-game losing skid after dropping their SLC opener on the road last weekend at UT Rio Grande Valley, 27-7. Redshirt freshman running back Xai'Shaun Edwards rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown for his second 100+-yard rushing performance of the season and continues to pace the SLC with 82.2 yards per game on the ground.

The HCU defense has been exceptional on third downs this season, leading all FCS teams with a third down conversion rate of just 20.9 percent (14-of-67) through five games. Additionally, HCU is currently tied for fourth nationally and leads the SLC with seven interceptions with D.J. Roberts and Norey Johnson each coming away with picks last weekend.

The Demons (1-4, 0-1 SLC) are also on a four-game slide after winning their opener against Alcorn State, 20-10. NSU fell last weekend at home to East Texas A&M by a 40-10 final. Senior linebacker Landry Huddleston registered 11 tackles in the loss. Offensively, Abram Johnston was 13-for-27 passing for 124 yards with an interception while Kolbe Burrell led the ground attack with 26 yards and a score.

Fernando Washington has been a menace defensively for NSU, leading the team with 39 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss while also recording a sack, an interception, one pass breakup and a quarterback hurry. Myion Hicks is the Demons' leading rusher with 148 yards on 33 carries with a touchdown while Johnston has thrown for three scores with four interceptions while completing 55.2 percent of his passes for 413 yards.

In last season's meeting at Husky Stadium, HCU overwhelmed the Demons with 617 yards of total offense while holding the visitors to just 211 yards. The Huskies are 3-5 in the all-time series.

HCU is back on the road next Saturday, Oct. 18, for a 6:00 p.m. game in Lake Charles, La. against the McNeese Cowboys.
