STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The HBU softball team concludes regular season play with a Saturday doubleheader against the Tarleton State Texans beginning at noon at the Tarleton Softball Complex.
 
The Huskies (14-27, 4-14 SLC) are coming off of a series win against Nicholls at Husky Field last weekend. All three Huskies who were honored on senior day had big weekends for HBU.

Madison Cotton picked up a win and had a no hitter through six innings in game two of the series. The Colonels bats came alive in the top of the seventh inning before Lyndie Swanson came in to pick up her first save of the season.
 
Caitlyn Brockway picked up six hits over the weekend while being intentionally walked twice in game three of the series. She currently sits at 34 career homeruns, good for second most all-time in program history and needs two RBIs this weekend to reach triple digits for her career.
 
Sarah Venker threw a gem in the final game of the series but picked up the loss. She gave up one unearned run on three hits while striking out four in her seven innings of work.  
 
Tarleton State (29-21, 14-10 WAC) is coming off of a series win against Lamar. Georgia Capell leads the Texans in hitting at .394 and is just one of four Texans hitting above .300. She is also the power source of their lineup, having hit 14 home runs and driving in 43 this season. Tristan bridges is the work horse of the pitching staff with a 11-10 record in 29 appearances and 145.1 innings pitched. She has recorded 98 strikeouts to this point of the season.
 
This will be the first time that HBU and Tarleton State have played each other in softball.

The next time the Huskies will take the field will be in the Southland Conference Tournament taking place at Southeastern in Hammond, Louisiana. The final bracket will be determined shortly following the conclusion of all conference games on Saturday. The tournament officially begins May 10.
