HOUSTON – The HBU baseball team dropped the first game of a three game Southland Conference series to the Nicholls Colonels Friday afternoon at Husky Field.

Sebastian Trinidad all had hits for the Huskies (9-21, 3-4 SLC).
Parker Edwards drove in the lone Husky run of the game in the first inning on an RBI ground out to the short stop.
Will Ripoll (1-3) took the loss for the Huskies, giving up seven runs, four earned, on five hits while striking out five over 4.1 innings of work.
On the other side, Nicholls (17-11, 5-2 SLC) third baseman Edgar Alvarez went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored. Alec Paz reached base in all five plate appearances including two hits and three walks. Tyler Theriot got the win for the Nicholls, giving up four hits while walking one and striking out five over 7.0 innings of work.
The Huskies and Colonels face of in game two of the three-game series tomorrow afternoon at Husky Field, first pitch is scheduled for 1:02 p.m.
