HOUSTON - HBU begins a five-game homestand with a three-game Southland Conference series against Nicholls Friday through Sunday at Husky Field. All three games will be shown on ESPN+ with Garrett Jones.
 
Sophomore catcher Parker Edwards leads the league with a .381 batting average with six home runs, seven doubles, 19 RBIs and 13 runs, while junior catcher Tyler LaRue is hitting .277 with four doubles, two triples, seven RBIs and seven runs. Sophomore second baseman Sebastian Trinidad is batting .275 with five doubles, six RBIs and five runs and junior centerfielder Austin Roccaforte is hitting .265 with five doubles, two triples, 13 RBIs, 15 runs and a league-leading 24 walks for a .435 on-base percentage.
 
The Huskies are expected to start righthanders Will Ripoll (1-2, 4.96), Jared Burch (1-2, 3.44 ERA) and Matthew Charles (1-0, 11.48 ERA). Senior righthander Andrew Reitmeyer has recorded six saves.
 
Xane Washington is hitting .351 with five home runs, four doubles, 18 RBIs and 23 runs for Nicholls (15-11, 4-2), while Parker Coddou is hitting .310 with three doubles, two home runs, a triple, 10 RBs and 19 runs. Edgar Alvarez is batting .303 with five home runs, four doubles, 27 RBIs and 23 ruhs and Alec  Paz is batting .281 with six home runs, 17 RBIs and 10 runs. Dane Simon leads the Colonels with 24 runs.
 
The Colonels are likely to start lefthander Tyler Theriot (3-2, 2.75 ERA) and righthanders Chase Gearing (3-2, 3.93 ERA) and Nick Heckman (1-1, 4.88 ERA). Cade Evans has recorded four saves.
 
Nicholls leads the all-time series, 16-10, with the two teams splitting last year's four-game series in Thibodaux.
 
HBU will host Prairie View A&M in a doubleheader Tuesday at noon at Husky Field.
