HOUSTON – HBU assistant coach
Becca Allison was announced as the Division I Women's Basketball Assistant Coach of the Year by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.
Allison helped lead the Huskies to a record setting season. They claimed the regular season title for the first time in program history and became the first sponsored sport on campus to finish the season at the top of the rankings since moving into the Southland Conference. They also played postseason basketball for the first time in program history.
Allison plays a large role in the Huskies' recruiting effort; contributing to the successful recruitment of players from both Texas and abroad. In addition to the major metropolitan areas in Texas, Becca has contributed to the successful recruitment of international players from Germany, Australia, Uzbekistan, Austria, Ireland, New Zealand, Poland and Luxembourg. On the court, Allison works primarily with the guards, focusing on skill development and individual film sessions. She is also in charge of game scheduling, academic oversight, and oversees team study halls.
"I am delighted that Becca has been recognized for her work. She's been an integral part of what we have done and this year really stepped up to help us secure our first conference regular season title," HBU women's head basketball coach and the Southland Conference Coach of the Year
Donna Finnie said. "Becca's passion for the game and our players show every day, so it's a great end to this semester that she is awarded this honor from TABC."
Allison is added to a long list of Huskies awarded for their efforts on and off the court this season.
