SB: Huskies Set to Battle Against Lady Lions

Double Header Scheduled for Friday with final game on Saturday

HAMMOND, Louisiana – The HBU softball team travels to Louisiana for a Southland Conference series against the Southeastern Lady Lions in a double header on Friday before a single matinee game on Sunday at North Oak Park.

The Huskies (12-23, 2-9 SLC) are coming off of a weekend series against the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders which saw them get swept. Two big performances from Lyndie Swanson saw her throw two complete games in the series combined to give up three runs, one earned, on eight hits while walking just one and striking out nine over 14.0 innings of work. Haylie Savage and Shelby Echols combined for 10 hits on the weekend.
 
Southeastern (30-12, 7-2 SLC) have the best overall record this season among Southland team and currently sit at second in the Southland Conference rankings, just three wins behind McNeese. Tuesday, the Land Lions beat Southern in Baton Rouge, 13-0. Their last SLC series was last weekend which saw them sweep Nicholls.
 
Cam Goodman and Aeriyl Mass lead the Lady Lions in hitting, each currently sit above the .400 mark, with eight different players hitting above .291. Lexi Johnson leads the team in homeruns with seven. Madison Rayner leads in homeruns with 39 and doubles with 15. In the circle, Heather Zumo is the work horse of the Southeastern staff having thrown 98.1 innings, 42 more than any other pitcher. She has a 2.42 ERA in those innings across 25 appearances including 18 starts.
 
The Lady Lions have taken four of the previous six games against the Huskies and are ahead in the overall series dating back to 2013, 11-8.
 
The Huskies return to midweek action next Wednesday when they travel to San Antonio to take on the UTSA Roadrunners.
