SACRAMENTO, Calif. – No. 23 Sacramento State scored in every inning, except for the sixth, including a 10-run fourth, to claim a 21-4 victory over HBU in the series opener Friday afternoon at John Smith Field.
 
Junior shortstop 
Diego Davila homered for HBU (2-8), while junior rightfielder 
Logan Letney doubled and scored a run to extend his hitting streak to six games. Senior centerfielder 
Lane Botkin singled, stole a base and drove in a run.
 
Junior righthander 
Daxton Tinker (0-2) took the loss, allowing seven runs on eight hits in 1.2 innings, as the Huskies used five pitchers.
 
Cesar Valero went 5-for-5 with three home runs, a triple and 10 RBIs for the Hornets (8-1). Nick Iwasa went 3-for-3 with a double and scored three times, while Jeffrey Heard was 2-for-3 and scored four times. Steven Moretto went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs, Gunner Gouldsmith went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs and Trevor Doyle went 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs.
 
Davila got the Huskies off to a good start with a solo home run in the first, but the Hornets answered with three in the first, four in the second and three in the third, before the fourth-inning explosion.
 
Valero had a two-run homer in the first, a three-run shot in the second and another three-run homer in the third. He added a two-run single in the fourth. Doyle cleared the bases with a three-run triple in the fourth.
 
The series continues with a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 3 p.m. CST, followed by a single-game Sunday at 1 p.m. CST.
