BEAUMONT, Texas – The HBU softball team will face former Southland Conference foe and current WAC member Lamar University in a midweek game Tuesday night at 5:00 p.m. at the LU Softball Complex.

The Huskies (10-15, 0-3 SLC) were swept by the Northwestern State Lady Demons in the opening weekend of conference play. Shelby Echols leads the Huskies in hitting this season at .488 including 40 hits (four doubles, a triple, and a home run) and 11 RBI's. Haylie Savage has a team high 14 RBI's and is tied for the team lead with four doubles. Caitlyn Brockway is the power bat in the Huskies lineup, having crushed a team high four balls out of the park.

Lyndie Swanson (4-3) has a team best 2.77 ERA with a team high 42 strikeouts in 55.2 innings pitched. Sarah Venker (1-5) is just one strikeout behind Swanson, as she has sat down 41 batters in her 51.1 innings of work so far this season.

After a six game losing streak, the Huskies will look to get back on track against Lamar (5-20, 1-8 WAC) who has won just one of their last 12 games. Kaylee Ancelot is the lone Cardinal hitting above .300 this season at .324. Ancelot is tied for the team lead in home runs with three, is the leader in hits with 22, and is second in RBI's with 16.

Aaliyah Ruiz (4-10) is the workhorse of the Cardinals pitching rotation and has a 3.71 ERA in 88.2 innings of work. No other Cardinal pitcher has an ERA below six.

The Cardinals and Huskies met twice already this season in the University of Houston tournament. HBU walked off the first meeting in fashion with a five run seventh inning capped off by a Jasie Robert three run jack, winning 11-9. In game two, the Huskies had a commanding lead heading into the last inning. The Cardinals were able to rattle off four runs in the seventh but the Huskies were able to hold them off and win 11-9

The Huskies travel to Lake Charles over the weekend for a three game series against the McNeese Cowgirls beginning on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
