RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech led 4-2 after five, but scored one in the sixth, five in the seventh and two in the eighth to claim the series with a 12-3 victory over HBU Saturday afternoon at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.
Junior second baseman
Austin Roccaforte went 2-for-4 with a double and drove in two runs for the Huskies (6-10). Senior third baseman
Jake Miller was also 2-for-4 and senior centerfielder
Lane Botkin and junior catcher
Kevin Ortiz each doubled and scored.
Senior righthander
Jared Burch (0-2) took the loss, allowing three runs on six hits with two strikeouts and a walk in 4.1 innings.
Philip Matulia went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and scored twice, while Taylor Young was 3-for-4 with three doubles, an RBI and scored three times for the Bulldogs (10-5). Steele Netterville was 2-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs. Cole McConnell and Wade Elliott also homered for La Tech.
Ryan Jennings (1-1) picked up the win, allowing two runs on four hits with five strikeouts and a walk in five innings.
The series concludes with a 1 p.m. first pitch Sunday.
