WESTLAKE, Ohio – HBU senior linebacker
Brennan Young has been voted to the Football Championship Subdivision Athletic Directors Association Academic All-Star Team for the second-straight year, the organization announced Thursday.
Young ranked third in the Southland Conference and 14
th nationally with 9.9 tackles per game. The Spring, Texas, native totaled 99 stops including 9.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, three quarterback hurries, an interception, a forced fumble and a blocked kick. He recorded double-digit tackles in six games, including a season-high 14 against McNeese. Young registered 11 tackles, two sacks, blocked a field goal and had a quarterback hurry against Northwestern State. He had six tackles, returned an interception 19 yards to set up a touchdown and forced a fumble at Nicholls.
Nominees for the ward are required to have a 3.20 GPA on a 4.0 scale in undergraduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletic credentials. Young carries a 3.70 GPA as a marketing major.
HBU has had a selection to the team for three-straight seasons, beginning with Andre Walker in 2019 and Young for the last two.
