HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to cap a 10-0 victory over HBU in the Southland Conference series opener Thursday night at Alumni Field.
 
Sophomore first baseman Brennen Bales and freshman shortstop Sebastian Trinidad had the only hits for the Huskies.
 
Senior righthander Jacob Coats (3-8) took the loss for HBU, allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits with six strikeouts and two walks in seven innings.
 
Bryce Grizzaffi went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBIs and scored twice, while Preston Faulkner went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBIs and a run for SLU. Tyler Finke was 2-for-5 and drove in a pair and Evan Keller scored twice.
 
Will Warren (7-2) went the distance for the Lions, shutting out the Huskies on two hits with 11 strikeouts and no walks in eight innings.
 
The series continues with a doubleheader Friday at 1 p.m.
