HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to cap a 10-0 victory over HBU in the Southland Conference series opener Thursday night at Alumni Field.

Senior righthander
Jacob Coats (3-8) took the loss for HBU, allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits with six strikeouts and two walks in seven innings.
Bryce Grizzaffi went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBIs and scored twice, while Preston Faulkner went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBIs and a run for SLU. Tyler Finke was 2-for-5 and drove in a pair and Evan Keller scored twice.
Will Warren (7-2) went the distance for the Lions, shutting out the Huskies on two hits with 11 strikeouts and no walks in eight innings.
The series continues with a doubleheader Friday at 1 p.m.
