HOUSTON – HBU returns home as the host the UIW Cardinals on Friday and Saturday for a three game Southland Conference series at Husky Field. All three games will be streamed on the Husky Sports Network.
Redshirt freshman shortstop Shelby Echols is hitting .391 with a home run, a triple, two doubles, three RBIs and 12 runs for the Huskies (11-10,4-8 SLC), while redshirt freshman second baseman Jasie Roberts is hitting .368 with three home runs, two triples, seven doubles, 15 RBIs and 12 runs. Senior catcher Heidi Jaquez has driven in nine with five doubles and scored 17 times. Sophomores Caitlyn Brockway, first baseman, and Autumn Sydlik, third baseman, each have four home runs on the season with 20 RBIs, seven doubles, 14 runs from Sydlik while Brockway has 18 RBIs, four doubles and 13 runs.
Junior Jessica Patak (4-7) expected to start in the circle on Friday with a 2.85 ERA in 51.2 innings with 33 strikeouts. Patak pitched her first career no-hitter in the Huskies most recent leading 2-1 series to Sam Houston. Redshirt freshman Lyndie Swanson (3-0) expected to see the circle in the series with a 1.45 ERA in 38.2 innings pitched with 30 strikeouts.
Maddie Boldt is batting .719 with two homers, five doubles, and nine RBIs scoring 11 times for UIW (10-16,4-8 SLC) while Kendall McGary hits .702 with two home runs, a triple, three doubles, six RBIs and nine runs. Abby Frank has three doubles, eight RBIs and 10 runs.
UIW will likely start in the circle Ashley Trapp (3-4) who has thrown 41 with 3.41 ERA and 45 strikeouts. Annie Gunther has seen the most action throwing 65.1 innings with 2.68 tieing Trapp with 45 strikeouts.
The Huskies will head a short trip to Prairie View A&M for a Tuesday, April 13 non-conference game followed by a weekend three-game series hosting Central Arkansas at Husky Field.
