CORPUS CHRISTI – Huskies head south as they take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a three game Southland Conference series. Due to weather in the area, game one is scheduled to start Friday at Noon while games two and three are tentatively scheduled for a Sunday doubleheader with first pitch at noon at Cabaniss Athletic Complex. Huskies begin the final six game stretch of regular season.
Senior catcher Heidi Jaquez has an 11 game hitting streak batting .396 with nine doubles, a home run, 12 RBIs and a tied team leading 24 runs scored for HBU (19-13, 12-9 SLC). Sophomore third baseman Autumn Sydlik bats .327 with eight doubles, team leading eight home runs, 29 RBIs and ties with Jaquez with 24 runs scored while sophomore first baseman and current SLC Hitter of the Week, Caitlyn Brockway, bats .344 with six doubles, seven home runs, and team leading 30 RBIs. Redshirt freshman Jasie Roberts, who tallied her fourth homer on Wednesday, adds seven doubles, two triples and 20 RBIs, while redshirt freshman short stop Shelby Echols bats .337 with two homers and 21 runs scored.
HBU will likely start right handers senior Jessica Patak, redshirt freshman Lyndie Swanson and sophomore Sarah Venker.
Sammi Thomas bats .258 with seven doubles, four triples, four home runs, 26 RBIs and 24 runs scored for the Islanders (17-25, 7-11 SLC) while Ashleigh Sgambelluri bats .317 with four doubles, a triple, two homers and 20 RBIs. Pal Egan has six doubles, a home run, and 18 RBIs while Haley Morse four doubles, two home runs, and 23 RBIs.
The Islanders will likely start Beatriz Lara, Jenika Lombrana, and Audrey McNeill.
Huskies will play their final regular season three game series at SFA next weekend.
