HOUSTON – The Huskies host for the final time of the 2021 season against Lamar for a three-game Southland Conference series. Saturday kicks off with a 2 p.m. doubleheader on April 24. HBU will recognize the six seniors after game two as the weekend marks the final home game for Riley Bullen, Elliott Estes, Sierra Humphrey, Heidi Jaquez, Jessica Patak and Kamryn Parker.
HBU (16-12,9-9 SLC) comes into the game after a 2-1 series victory over Central Arkansas. The Huskies are led in SLC play by redshirt freshman outfielder Jasie Roberts with a .386 batting average. She leads with 22 hits and a .426 on base percentage and is third on the team with 11 RBIs. Senior catcher Heidi Jaquez follows her batting .353 with 18 hits and 12 runs scored. Sophomore third baseman Autumn Sydlik bats .339 in conference play dominating across the stats board with 19 hits, including seven homeruns, 13 runs scored and leads the team with 21 RBIs.
The HBU pitching staff is led by redshirt freshman Lyndie Swanson (7-0) with a 1.04 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 60.2 innings pitched on the season. Senior Jessica Patak (5-8) has thrown 66.1 innings with a 3.27 ERA and 41 strikeouts. Sophomore Sarah Venker (2-1) has 26 strikeouts and a 4.61 ERA throwing 27.1 innings.
Lamar (5-37,1-17 SLC) comes in after a 3-0 loss to UIW. The Cardinals are led by Hannah Carpenter with a .255 batting average in SLC play with 12 hits and four RBIs. Nicolette Ramirez follows her batting .250 with five runs scored, 12 hits including a home run and six RBIs. Aleka Xayasang has 13 hits with seven runs scored batting .245 to round out the top of Lamar's batters.
Shelby Mixon (1-9) leads the Cardinals pitching staff throwing 55.1 innings with 31 and a 5.19 ERA. Breanna Rayna (0-5) has thrown 20.2 innings with a 9.48 ERA with Aaliya Ruiz (0-2) rounding out the pitching staff throwing 11.2 innings with nine strikeouts and a 5.40 ERA.
