BSB: Reitmeyer, Burch Combine to Blank Oral Roberts, 2-0

Huskies duo holds Golden Eagles to three hits

TULSA, Okla. – HBU scored two runs in the second inning and it was all junior righthander Andrew Reitmeyer and sophomore righthander Jared Burch would need in shutting out Oral Roberts, 2-0, in the non-conference baseball series finale Sunday afternoon at J.L. Johnson Stadium.

Reitmeyer started and went 4.1 innings, allowing two hits, striking out five and walking three. Burch (2-0) notched the win, allowing one hit and one walk on 51 pitches over the final 4.2 innings.

Senior catcher Matt Solomon went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and scored a run for the Huskies (7-23). Freshman shortstop Sebastian Trinidad singled and drove in a run and senior leftfielder Lane Botkin singled and scored a run.

Adam Oviedo went 2-for-3 and Jake McMurray had the only other hit for the Golden Eagles (14-17).

Matt Gaskins (1-2) took the loss, allowing two runs on five hits with four strikeouts and no walks in four innings. Evan Kowalski threw four innings in relief, giving up a hit, a walk and striking out two in four innings.

Botkin singled up the middle with one out in the second, then Solomon followed with an RBI double down the leftfield line. Trinidad delivered an RBI single to leftcenter to make it 2-0 and that would be all of the scoring in the game.

Burch got ORU to hit into double plays in both the seventh and eighth, then set the Golden Eagles down in order on eight pitches in the ninth.

The Huskies return to Southland Conference play when they host Northwestern State in a four-game series Friday through Sunday at Husky Field.
